The state of Oaxaca extends from the Pacific coast to the high sierra and has the most biodiversity of any state in Mexico.
On this trip we pass through three vegetation zones and learn about a large number of healing plants. Our high-country destination is Cuajimoloyas, one of the Pueblos Mancomunados (3,200 m/10,000 ft.). In Cuajimoloyas we’ll go walking with a knowledgable local guide and hear explanations of native medicinal plants. After the walk we go to visit Doña Telesfora, the village healer, for a limpia. The limpia is a ritual cleansing that uses plants to restore balance to your body and spirit.
