Pueblos Mancomunados

One of the oldest ecosystems in the world

This ecotourism project was developed by eight Zapotec villages working hand-in-hand and has become a model of ecotourism for all of México.  The forest land of the Pueblos Mancomunados extends up from 2,000 – 3,000 meters (6,500 – 10,000 feet) in the Sierra Norte. The populations of the villages themselves range from 80 – 850 inhabitants. All in all it provides a variety of hiking experiences and exposure to the cultures of distinctly different villages. We have been working with the Pueblos Mancommunados since 1999 and are happy to create a tour for you that addresses your needs and interests.
