Santo Domingo Cacalotepec (in COVID lockdown)

Discover coffee country deep in the Mesophilous forest of the Sierra Norte

This is as deep as we go hiking in the Sierra Norte.   The trail follows an old trading route up mountains ridges and through high wet ancient forest where fern trees, bromeliads, moss and orchids abound.  Truly an enchanted place!

The village of Santo Domingo Cacalotepec is very remote, their food is all organically grown and their locally-grown coffee just received national recognition for its excellent quality.

The second day’s hike takes you back to a scenic waterfall and on the last day we’ll jump in the river before driving the ridges and forests back to Oaxaca.

Great organic coffee
Unique opportunity to visit a distant village and its ancient ecosystem
